I am using the international view for the site and English as the main language, as my French isn't very good. I can read and understand the language but my writing is very bad, forgive me!

Born and raised in the Netherlands, I live in the beautiful region "West-Friesland" near Enkhuizen and Medemblik together with my husband and children.

Music has been in my head for all my life, my own words and melodies just waiting in line to come out. But it took me to 2009 to get them out and turn them into real sound someone else can listen to and – hopefully – enjoy.

I cannot play instruments, although I do know a lot about music and harmony. I just never had patience to master an instrument. I strumm 2 or 3 chords on the guitar, hit a few notes on a keyboard or piano, learned to whistle on the recorder in my childhood, even started to play trumpet and bugle, but alas..... never learned to play right. But I do know my way around computers, and I compose with the use of software.

The styles are diverse, but for some reason there always seems to be a jazzy touch or a bluesy note, hence I use the tag Jazz & More.

Jazz&More is also the name of my band. We mainly play covers at the moment, lots of good old Jazz standards, next to more recent easy listening and popmusic, from Ella Fitzgerald to Donna Summer to Tina Turner and Amy Winehouse. We are just beginning to put some of my own songs on the repertoire, but we’re not ready to perform them yet.

Singing is great fun

I sang before I could talk, at least, that is what my parents say. But I also remember very vividly being a just a toddler that I had a envelope shaped record player, where you could put singles in to play, just like a CD player, but then back in those days with vinyl. I can still see myself sitting in a corner of the living room, spending hours and hours playing songs and sing-a-long. Must have driven the neighbours crazy, as the walls were thin!

I love jamming, as that is when great (well, ofcourse also sometimes, but not often, bad) things happen musically. I love live music, especially at small venues like a bar or pub, where you can just hang out with your friends and listen to nice musicians working hard for little money just to entertain you.

I also love musical theatre. One of the highlights was being asked by the "Hoorns Harmonie Orkest" to sing songs from the "Three Penny Opera" (Die Dreigroschenoper) by Kurt Weill in the original language when they celebrated their 40th year in 2006. I was very honoured that they asked me and it was great fun!
