Monika Evans

Monika Evans (née: Thomas) est née en 1977 à Cracovie, en Pologne.
Dès la petite enfance, elle rêvait d'être pianiste. Six années de primaire à l' Ecole de Musique de Nowa Huta lui ont donné une éducation de base au piano et un enseignement supérieur au violon. Monika a quitté l'école en 1992 et n'ayant pas accès aux instruments (ni piano, ni violon) elle a décidé de suivre son deuxième passe-temps - les langues et la littérature.
En 2001, Monika est diplômée de l'Université Jagellonne, puis travaille dans plusieurs endroits qui finalement l' amènent au Royaume-Uni.Pouvant acheter un piano avec son premier salaire, Monika revient à la musique et en 2007 présente deux chansons polonaises au "U.K Songwriting Contest" qui atteignent les demi-finales.
Encouragée par ce succès, Monika a ensuite produit son propre CD, enregistré à son domicile à Chester, comprenant des chansons qu'elle avait écrites pendant son adolescence et dans sa langue maternelle.

La motivation suivante de Monika était d'enregistrer de nouvelles chansons dans un studio professionnel.
En 2009, sur le portail de musique polonais Megatotal.pl. , en vingt-deux semaines et avec un investissement constitué par plus de 250 fans, Monika a atteint l'objectif budgétaire pour son premier enregistrement professsionel.
Dans l'intervalle, ses chansons trouvent une certaine reconnaissance dans les décisions finales de plusieurs concours: USA Song of the Year et finale de l' OPPA 2009 à Varsovie.
Monika a décidé ensuite de travailler avec le producteur et arrangeur Kostek Andreev (qui a travaillé avec Gabriel Fleszar, Bartek Wrona) et Dominik Bukowski, propriétaire de DBstudio dans Jarocin, où l'album a été enregistré.
Son style est souvent comparé à un mélange d'influences de Imogen Heap, Tori Amos, Eva Cassidy et Lamb.
Onze chansons ,dont trois en polonais, accompagnées par de superbes photos et illustrations graphiques par Karolina Skorek, Artur Skorek et Arkadiusz Misiak sont publiées en Septembre 2010.
Monika décide alors d' enregistrer son nouvel album sur Akamusic.
Monika vit dans le Nord du Pays de Galles et est impliquée, avec son mari Paul dans beaucoup d'autres activités artistiques, qui aident les gens de talent à être reconnus et promus.

Monika Evans (nee: Thomas) was born in 1977 in Krakow, Poland.

From early childhood she dreamt to be a pianist. Six years of Primary Music School in Nowa Huta gave her a basic education on piano and advanced education on violin. Monika left the school in 1992 and having no access to instruments (piano nor violin) decided to follow her second hobby - languages and literature.

In 2001 Monika graduated from the Jagiellonian University, worked in several places that ultimately led her to the U.K. Being able to afford to buy a piano from her first wage, Monika came back to music and in 2007 submitted two Polish songs to the U.K Songwriting Contest which made the semi- final stage. Being encouraged by this success, Monika went on to produce her own CD, recorded at her home in Chester, which included songs she wrote during her teenage years and in her native language.

Monika's next motivation was to record her new material in a professional studio. In 2009, after signing up to a Polish indie music portal Megatotal.pl. in a record breaking twenty two weeks and with investment from over 250 fans, Monika reached the unprecedented target budget of 25.000 and was able to make arrangements for her first professsional recording. In the meantime, her songs got recognized on several contest making finals: USA Song of the Year and final of OPPA 2009 in Warsaw. Monika decided to work with producer and arranger Kostek Andreev (who worked with Gabriel Fleszar, Bartek Wrona) and Dominik Bukowski, owner of DBstudio in Jarocin, where the album was recorded. Her style is being often compared as a mixture of influences from Imogen Heap, Tori Amos, Eva Cassidy and Lamb. Eleven songs including three in Polish, wrapped in beautiful photos and graphical artwork by Karolina Skorek, Artur Skorek and Arkadiusz Misiak are were released in September 2010. At the moment Monika's planning to record her new material on AKAmusic.
Monika lives in North Wales and is involved, together with her husband Paul in many other artistic activities, which help talented people to be recognized and promoted.
